COVID-19 UPDATE

5/29/2020

On May 19th, Governor DeWine lifted the Stay at Home Order. Starting June 1st, our Big Brothers Big Sisters agency will be allowing Community-Based matches to have in person meetings. We have consulted with other BBBS agencies and our local public health department. With what we have learned, we ask that you follow these guidelines to keep our Littles, their families, and our Bigs safe. We also want you to know that even though the Stay at Home Order has been lifted, we are NOT REQUIRING matches to meet in person. You may still meet virtually.

GUIDELINES FOR MEETING IN PERSON:
  • The parent/guardian, Little and Big all need to be comfortable meeting in person.
  • If you are planning to meet in person, we ask that you notify your Program Coordinator that you are doing so prior to your outing.
  • The activity is to include only the Big(s) and Little. Unfortunately, we cannot have siblings, friends or other matches joining.
  • A Big and Little are allowed to ride in the same vehicle together as long as all parties are comfortable in doing so. If any of the parties are uncomfortable being in the same vehicle, the Big can drive to the Little’s home and go for a walk, play in the yard, etc. or the Little’s family may provide transportation to and from the activity

Safety measures include that all match activities must follow social distancing recommendations:
  • Activities take place outside
  • Refrain from physical contact (no hugging, high fives, etc.)
  • Wash your hands often
  • Use hand sanitizer if you are unable to wash your hands
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Wear a mask if possible
  • Stay 6 feet apart
  • If Bigs and Littles have met in person and develop any concerning symptoms, or a member of their household does, please report this to your Program Coordinator, either Mandi or Rebecca, as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for continuing to be such a vital part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. We know that these uncertain times are causing everyone extra stress. Please know that I, along with our entire team, are here for you and for your match. We've been here for over 45 years and will still be here on the other side of this pandemic. In the meantime, we’ll get through it together.  Please also know if another Stay at Home Order is put into place in the future, matches should stop meeting in person and resume virtual outings.
