Programs

I'm interested in enrolling my child!

Community Based/Couples Match

An adult-aged Big Brother or Big Sister gets to spend time and share activities with a child-aged Little Brother or Little Sister doing activities that they both enjoy together.  Activities may include fishing, playing board games, baking cookies, or going to ball games.  The Bigs and Littles get to enjoy these fun times together on their own schedule at least two times per month.

Couples Match is the same  but offers the opportunity for spouses to share the mentoring experience together.

Sister Power

Through the Sister Power Program, Big Sisters with their Little Sisters, who are between the ages of 13 and 18, and currently enrolled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Based Program, will be able to come together as a group to talk about and experience programs and activities that will create healthy, smart, strong, and empowered active girls and women.

School-Based Programs

Big Buddies

Lunch Buddies

Big Buddies is a nine-month commitment where high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors volunteer two times per month to mentor elementary students.  During these meetings, high school students, under the supervision of Big Brothers Big Sisters staff, work with one or two children on different educational and recreational activities.

Curriculum for the 2019-2020 school year
will utilize the Peace Education Foundation’s “Peace Works” curriculum which focuses on violence prevention, social & emotional development, conflict resolution, mediation skills, character & values, and bullying prevention.
Lunch Buddies is a one-to-one mentoring program at Jackson Center Elementary School where adult volunteers are matched with a 2nd or 3rd grade student. Volunteers eat lunch with the students, assist with school work, and play games all while building a positive friendship.

Lunch Buddies students are referred by their teacher, school guidance counselor, or other school personnel. This program takes place every Wednesday throughout the academic school year for approximately 30 minutes during the student's lunch break.

Career Quest

Career Quest is a partnership with Sidney High School's Opportunity School.  This program matches adult volunteers with graduation credit deficient high school students and helps them get on track for graduation and prepared for future careers.
