PART-TIME MARKETING & FUND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Job Description:
Take the lead with marketing and fund development for a two-county, non-profit chapter of America's oldest youth mentoring program serving Shelby and Darke County. This is a personal growth opportunity that allows you to advocate for youth who need a Big Brother or Big Sister. Create and implement marketing and fundraising strategies with support from an Executive Director who has a strong background in non-profit marketing and fund development. Work with special event committees and strengthen relationships with donors. Plan and coordinate advertising, marketing, fund development, special events, social media, and public relations.  Implement national marketing plan to increase brand identity and visibility; help recruit volunteers to be Big Brothers or Big Sisters; produce newsletters; manage our social media platforms and CRM database, update our website, and help grow our programs working with area school districts. Plan and direct our well-established special events, annual fund, United Way funding and foundation grants, and work with Executive Director in securing major gifts from individuals and corporations. Opportunity to learn as we develop a planned giving program.
 
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  College students in marketing, social media, office management, or other related programs also considered.
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and advertising a must. 
  • Website development, creation, and maintenance experience desired.
  • Special event and fundraising experience desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Google applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills (both written and oral) and the ability to effectively influence, engage, interface, and gain credibility with senior management, Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Must work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, changing environment with numerous deadlines and pressures; must have professional maturity to respond to urgent matters and/or crisis situations, as needed.
  • Excellent judgment, innovative thinking, creative problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution, and demonstrated ability to manage more than one project at a time and communicate comfortably in a professional setting.
  • Extensive writing and editing experience with a variety of print and online communication media.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.  A self-starter with the ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and is open to new ideas and able to analyze a variety of media for effective communications.

Salary:
This is a part-time position, approximately 20–24 hours per week with additional hours during annual fundraiser months.  Benefits are not included, but flex site and flex time are possible. Commensurate with experience.
